Claudia Schiffer Talks Chic Mom Style and Her Latest Knitwear Collection

Clothing collections from bold-faced names are more the rule than the exception now, but true success is measured in the actual product. To that point, Claudia Schiffer's knitwear line is luxe, sophisticated and completely wearable — lessening the buzz about the model behind it, and focusing more on the covetable pieces. We spoke with the super/designer about her influential style, what she was thinking for the new collection — launching on Net-a-Porter tomorrow — and how to look effortlessly chic.

New Bond Street store

"The brand started in England," said its chief executive Harry Slatkin in a weekend interview with the Independent. "When it was bought by Italians [in the 1990s], it started to lose its way and lose its language. We wanted to make a firm commitment that it is back in England and that we're proud to be an English brand." The fashion brand has also enlisted fashion guru Tommy Hilfiger as an investor and consultant.

British luxury brand Belstaff is paying a record £3m for a new store on Bond Street in London as the upmarket street cements its position as a shopping destination for wealthy tourists.

Property experts said Belstaff – which is worn by celebrities such as Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp and Victoria Beckham – had set a "record" for the highest rent paid on Bond Street for a new open market letting. The brand, part of the Labelux group that also owns Jimmy Choo, has taken a 20-year lease on the entire six storey building, which is to be renamed "Belstaff House". The retail space totals 25,000 sq ft and the store's neighbours will include high-end fashion brands including Miu Miu and Fendi.

Michelle Obama spent $50,000 in Agent Provocateur

THE White House has denied claims that Michelle Obama spent $50,000 (£32,500) in Agent Provocateur, allegedly boosting its sales by 12 per cent. Reports have suggested that America's First Lady closed off a section of Madison Avenue to privately shop in one of the lingerie label's New York stores, but Kristina Schake - director of communications for Michelle Obama - has denounced the story as "100 per cent false".
"Recent claims regarding Michelle Obama and purchases made at an Agent Provocateur boutique are incorrect," a spokesperson for Agent Provocateur told the Daily Mail. "Agent Provocateur never discusses any of its clientele or their purchases."
Along with the First Lady, recent allegations have also claimed that The Queen of Qatar, Sheikha Mozah has raised sale profits for the brand, though this is yet to be confirmed.

Bianca Balti for Vogue Japan March 2012 Cover

Bianca Balti is sizzling hot in this editorial for the Vogue Nippon Beauty March 2012 issue. The gorgeous Italian supermodel, dressed in a pretty floral print frock and a printed bustier and shorts combo, models one of the season’s top beauty looks: glistening skin, bold red lips and dramatically lined eyes with long, swooping lashes.

Photographed by Giampaolo Sgura and styled by Anna Dello Russo, this Vogue Nippon Beauty March 2012 editorial is called ‘Power and Passion,’ which is an apt title seeing as how red is the color most associated with passion, and red is the primary hue used in this glamorous beauty story.

Makeup for the ‘Power and Passion’ shoot was provided by Jessica Nedza, with hair by Davide Diodovich.

Marc Jacobs - Vogue TV Exclusives

“Her energy is endless,” says Marc Jacobs of artist Yayoi Kusama - with whom Louis Vuitton has collaborated to create what will be the most expansive fashion and accessories line the house has ever produced, launching in July.

“I think that’s what I admire and love and respond to about her,” he continues, explaining how the pair first met and what else it is he finds so inspiring about her.

The Jacobs Interview (video): here

Karl Lagerfeld - “Me Doing Me”

"It's a graphic idea of what I like, what could be translated from me to girls," he explained. "It's very graphic; black and white, silver and grey. Chanel is me doing Chanel, Fendi is me doing Italy and this is me doing me, whatever that means. Don't ask me too many questions because it's very strange to see your face wherever you turn."

The Chanel legend also explained why he decided to enter the mid-range market, having worked at the luxury end of the industry as well as launching a collection for H&M in 2004.

"The people I've been in business with before, they always want to be in competition with Chanel or Fendi - I wasn't interested," he said. "Why would I want to do the same thing? I liked to do H&M, because it was a different point and this is another one. The middle class does not have enough class that I think the middle class should have."

Lagerfeld started his fashion career at Balmain, where he worked as Pierre Balmain's apprentice - an experience that wasn't all positive.

"At Balmain I wasn't crazy about what he did and he wasn't very pleasant," he told US Vogue. "But I said to myself 'you are here to learn, shut up and forget about it.' I thought it was chicer at Dior and Balenciaga, but you can learn there because you are not influenced. You learn not what to do."

CONFIRMED: SIENNA MILLER IS PREGNANT

Sienna Miller and her boyfriend Tom Sturridge in Paris
Savannah Miller has confirmed that her sister Sienna and boyfriend Tom Sturridge are expecting their first child - and the family couldn't be more happy.
"She is doing really well and we are all really happy about it, Tom is an amazing guy," she told us this morning. (Vogue UK)

"They just spent the holidays in Paris together after they announced the news in London," a source told US Weekly, before adding that the couple "don't have plans right away to marry, if at all".

Sienna's step mother, Kelly Hoppen, also confirmed the exciting news but denied that the couple are engaged. "Sienna is definitely not engaged or getting married... she is pregnant," she told the Evening Standard.

Rumours that the actress was expecting a baby began to swirl earlier this month. They reached fever pitch after she and Savannah announced they were leaving Twenty8Twelve, the fashion label they founded six years ago. Savannah, who has two children with husband Nick Skinner, has since taken to Twitter to refuse claims that they stepped down because of their families.
