KAUFMANFRANCO'S CRAFTED ELEGANCE

KAUFMANFRANCO'S CRAFTED ELEGANCE

KAUFMANFRANCO’s not an emerging label, but judging from their resurgence on the red carpet you’d think that they’re onto something new. A recent visit to the label’s midtown atelier proved otherwise, offering a close look at two designers
who are dedicated to their craft, not churning out loose sketches or impersonal spec sheets. While theres not a flamboyant color or flash-trend in sight, whats quite visible (and unique) is the labels in-house sewing team, all outfitted in stark white labcoats,
providing an air of skill in their crusade toward perfection. Its something the brands designers Ken Kaufman and Isaac Franco learned while working at Valentino early in their careers.”Everything was meticulous, the sewing rooms were always
immaculate and our desks had to be pin-neat,” Franco explained. Much like their former employer, a model for cleanliness has helped the brand slice through the clutter and create powerfully simple shapes—like moto-jackets with racer back fur
overlays—that have landed them a stockpile of fans, spanning Kate Winslet to Taylor Swift, and every age group and glamorous profession in between.
