Jil Sander moves his fashion show to Paris Fashion Week

Jil Sander 2013 Paris Fashion Week spring summer

Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana published the schedule for Milan Fashion Week Spring Summer 2013 (see here), but surprisingly, Jil Sander is missing.
 I do not think is a mistake, I believe they moved to Paris.

Jil Sander and Paris sounds good, Jil Sander's elegance and simplicy is more appropriate for Paris.

PS: this is just a rumor

Dolce & Gabbana Launches Haute Couture

Today Dolce & Gabbana confirmed rumours that it will create a small couture collection for the first time, to be showed July 9th to a group of clients in Taormina, Sicily.

The unveiling will take place far from the classic couture environs of Paris; the eye of the Chambre Syndicale, the governing body of the French couture tradition; and the fashion media. The choice is strategic, for a number for reasons:
1. It maintains the very exclusive, private allure of the couture;
2. It allows Dolce & Gabbana to avoid the stringent requirements the French couture world imposes on any brand that wants to call itself a full-fledged couture house;
3.  It gives them a chance to launch their first collection free of critics, who might not like it!
Apparently a select few — three — media outlets are being invited to the unveiling, but no American newspapers, and not this one.
Still (no sour grapes here!) it’s interesting that Dolce & Gabbana, which closed it’s lower-priced D&G line last year in order to concentrate on its main line, would choose to, effectively, trade-up to couture.

More Details About GIVENCHY FW 12-13 Ad Campaign (Models, Team, Inspiration)

givenchy ad campaign fall winter 2012 2013 stell

Riccardo Tisci, whose shows for Givenchy often feature bone-shuddering electronic music, has decided to portray the euphoric energy of a rave party in the French house’s fall campaign, featuring model Stella Tennant.

“It is about happiness and the freedom of expressing yourself with your body. It shows a dynamic, happy and fun world, which is what fashion needs,” the designer told WWD about the fractured images. “Stella represents modernity, elegance, masculinity and femininity at the same time, together with a dynamic, energetic beauty.”

Joan Smalls, Stef van der Laan, Daniela Braga, Simone Nobili, Jarrod Scott and Rodrigo Braga are the other “new stars of the Givenchy gang” who join the party with Tennant, Tisci added. Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott photographed the ads, with styling by Carine Roitfeld. The spots are slated to break in September issues of various international editions of Vogue, as well as Harper’s Bazaar and W.

Pierre Cardin Spring Summer 2013

piere cardin 2013 spring summer mens fashion sho

In this season we see the return of one of the oldest: Pierre Cardin. The legendary designer, who claims to have been one of the first designers to show menswear on the runway with his debut men's show in 1960, returns to the runway after years of hiatus to present a Spring '13 collection on the last day of the week. Here's living proof that it's never too late for a(nother) new act. Cardin turns 90 the week after his show.

Jil Sander by Jil Sander Spring Summer 2013

The house of Jil Sander is home to one of the most-talked-about shake-ups in recent memory: the exit of its longtime creative director, Raf Simons, and the return of its founder and namesake to the helm. Sander's first collection as reappointed head of her label will be her menswear, and those anxiously anticipating it won't have long to wait: She begins the Milan schedule with the first on-calendar show, at 10 a.m. on Saturday the 23rd. As for her predecessor? Milan will be Raf-free for the first time in seven years. (At the end of the last womenswear season, he told reporters he was leaving the city forever.) His own namesake menswear will be shown in Paris as usual, though earlier in the week than in seasons past, presumably to allow him more time to work on his own big debut: his first couture collection for Christian Dior, showing just days after the Paris menswear week ends.

JW Anderson for Topshop

Topshop have announced that they will collaborate with young British designer JW Anderson to create a capsule womenswear collection featuring jersey, denim, knitwear and outerwear pieces as well as items such as pencils, memory sticks, rubik's cubes, vintage magazines and photography books.

"I am very excited to collaborate with Topshop. It gives me the opportunity to reach a much wider audience with my designs. It has always been very important to me that my collections are made accessible to anyone interested in fashion and design." said Anderson.

The Irish-born designer has quickly established himself as a promising talent on the British fashion scene. After studying menswear design at the London College of Fashion he launched his menswear line in 2008, later introducing womenswear for autumn/winter 2010.
